Dress the Part - More, The Age of Adaline (plus a GIVEAWAY)

This GIVEAWAY is now closed.  The winner is Emily Olsen. Congratulations!

Remember here when I recreated some of my favorite costumes from the movie The Age of Adaline? (see my review of the film here as well) I focused only on the twenties and thirties, and had every intention of continuing with the decades. I got stuck though, as the next few outfits I wanted to recreate were very fallish, and I wasn't finding anything good. But alas, fall is here, so I was able to finally finish this post!

But that's not all, I'm also featuring my first GIVEAWAY on the blog today!! That's right, keep reading to the end of the post to find out how you can enter to win a free copy of The Age of Adaline. It just came out on DVD yesterday, and I'm giving a copy away to one lucky reader. Yay!

Okay, but now onto the clothes.

First, let's look at a costume from the forties.

The silk taffeta, the hat, the gloves, and pearls! I love it all!!

Now, here's my interpretation of it.

If you're looking for forties inspired dresses, try searching for fit & flare (aka swing or a-line) silhouettes with v-neck or sweetheart necklines.

There are a ton out there (probably because this silhouette is flattering to so many), but I especially love the jewel tones! Here are some more great options.

Moving on to a costume from the fifties.

Twin set sweaters, fit & flare skirts, peter pan collars, and matching from head to toe. What's not to love?

Here's my interpretation.

This was a perfect costume to showcase because plaid midi skirts are everywhere this fall. You should have no problem finding any, but here are some great options.

Finally, let's take a look at the early sixties. This is the first time we see Adaline in pants!
Here's my interpretation.

With skinny pants still going strong, this look is super easy to recreate. Loafers are back too. I've been searching for the perfect pair of black loafers for a few months now, so I pulled together a bunch of great options for you.

The 40's, 50's, and 60's were such classic decades in women's fashion, and the basic silhouettes were so flattering that they are still around in many forms today. I loved the attention to detail, and the accessories. They really knew how to put together a complete look back then.

Now, the moment you've all been waiting for...the GIVEAWAY!
If you would like to enter to win a free copy of The Age of Adaline on DVD, then leave a comment below letting me know what your favorite decade of fashion is along with your email address. You can also let me know if you want a Blu-ray copy or just the regular DVD copy. You have until Tuesday, 9/15 to enter, and I'll announce the winner on Wednesday, 9/16. Good luck!

Finally, a few disclaimers:
This giveaway is not sponsored. I am paying for the DVD with my own money. I just really enjoyed the movie, the fashion, and wanted to say thank you to my readers for reading!
