Christmastime in Chicago

We really had no intention of heading back to Illinois or Wisconsin again this year, but circumstances allowed for one more visit. While we were there, the kids and I, along with my parents and little sister, decided to head to downtown Chicago to check out the Christmas tree and Macy's store windows.

Our first stop was Millennium Park to see the Christmas tree.
Before we got to the tree though, we stopped to see the famous Cloud Gate sculpture...aka The Bean.
This was actually a first time visit for me as well. I had already left Chicago for Milwaukee by the time it was being built, and I guess I just never got around to ever checking it out.
It's pretty cool, and we all had fun running around it and checking out our reflections. The kids kept getting distracted with chasing pigeons though, so we decided it was time to head over to the huge Christmas tree!
Next up, we walked by all the Macy's windows that were all totally decked out for Christmas. They're pretty impressive - so detailed. Seamus especially loved them.
Finally, we checked out the Christkindlmarket and had a late lunch at Trattoria No. 10, which was a little fancier then we expected, but the food was warm and the kids behaved great, so all was good.

It was fun to be a little bit cold again, and see everyone decked out in their hats and scarves bustling about the city. Chicago is the best!
