2016 Oscars - Pastels

Let's wrap up the Oscars with a quick look at all the lovely pastel colored dresses from the red carpet. Enjoy!

Alicia Vikander
Winner, Alicia Vikander, wore this lovely yellow Louis Vuitton gown. This was such an adorable dress. The color is fresh and the bead work helped to up the fanciness factor. The hi-low bubble hem gives it a lot of personality and movement. The shoes, jewelry, hair, and make-up all compliment the look well. Great job, Alicia!

Emily Blunt
Presenter, Emily Blunt, wore this pink embellished Prada gown. I felt the color of this gown washed her out a bit, and I would have like to see some sort of embellishment on the bust as well. As is, it looks unfinished. The coloring seems off on her make-up too, but I loved her hair, jewelry, and accessories. Overall, not bad.

Sophie Turner
Sophie Turner wore this mint green Galvan dress. If this gown was any other color it probably would have looked great on her, but as is, it really washes her out. Some bolder jewelry and accessories would have helped too, The only thing standing out is her hair, which is pretty, but not enough to save the look. This one was a miss for me.

Heidi Klum
Heidi Klum wore this lavender Marchesa number. I like the idea of this dress, but it was far too over designed for my tastes. The sleeve and at least one flower need to go. It's needlessly complicated which doesn't make sense with such a soft and flowy fabric. Her hair, make-up, and jewelry all look great though. Overall, this one was just okay for me.

Isla Fisher
Isla Fisher, also in Marchesa, looked lovely in this soft floral gown. The silhouette is simple and classic, and the pretty fabric keeps it from being boring. I loved the metallic belt too - nice touch. Her hair, make-up, and accessories all complimented the look well. Nice job, Isla!

Daisy Ridley
Presenter, Daisy Ridley, wore this ice blue Chanel Haute Couture number. The color and bead work on this dress look amazing, but that was about all I liked here. The length is awkward, and the blousy waist distracting. The shoes were too matchy-matchy - silver would have been a better choice. Finally, her hair and make-up are too severe for such a romantic dress. If she had left her locks long and loose it would have vastly improved the overall effect. This was a miss for me as well.

Jennifer Jason Leigh
Nominee, Jennifer Jason Leigh, wore this ballet pink Marchesa dress. I would have preferred a slightly darker pink, as she is just on the verge of looking washed out, but that's about my only complaint. The fit is great and I loved the flowered appliques. It's structured, but still soft. Hair, make-up, and jewelry are all on point as well. Great job, Jennifer!

Cate Blanchett
My absolute favorite look of the night was nominee, Cate Blanchett. She looked stunning in this sea green Armani Privé gown. The fit is impeccable; structured, but still full of movement. The flower appliques bring so much visual interest. Her jewelry is gorgeous and her hair and make-up - flawless. That face! This is a work of art. Perfection!

What was your favorite dress of the night?
